WRITELOG FOR WINDOWS

WINDOWS 98 users: Please be aware that WRITELOG can not support more than about 5000 call when using WINDOWS 98.  If you are using WIN98, the last 20-25% will not work. This problem only exist with Windows 98. Other versions of Windows are reported to work fine.

To use the friend.ini file with WRITELOG, download the file. Unzip and place FRIEND.INI in your WRITELOG "programs" directory.

 In the CW/RTTY message memory HELP area, you will find the following:

The letter "H"

The callsign in the Entry window is looked up in Friend.ini. If it is found then the text corresponding to the call is sent. So if, for example, Friend.ini contains the entry “W5XD=HI WAYNE”, then, if W5XD is the call in the Entry window, then “HI WAYNE” is sent instead of the “%H”. By default, the section in Friend.ini that is used is “[HI]”, but the “HI_SECTION” entry in the “[Configuration] section of WriteLog.ini can be edited such that WriteLog will lookup some other section in “Friend.ini”.

 Refer to the HELP FILES for more detail.

Customize your buffers for your friends!  This special file, called FRIEND.INI  file is used when buffers are sent.  Keep in mind that it will slow your rate slightly to send the names.  Also, some small delay is introduced when the name is looked up in the file.

The results of adding a friend.ini  file to your contesting is best shown by example:

[HI]

WF1B=RAY

KI1G=RICK

W2JGR=JULES

 FRIEND.INI  Sample File

Sample F2 Buffer: <1> TNX <HI> 599 QSL? BK

When working WF1B  the buffer would send

WF1B TNX RAY 599 QSL? BK

When working KI1G  the buffer would send

KI1G TNX RICK 599 QSL? BK

When working W2JGR the buffer would send

W2JGR TNX JULES 599 QSL? BK

When working K1NG (not in friend.ini) , the buffer would send

K1NG TNX 599 QSL? BK

N1MM Contest Logger

Place the friend.ini in any convenient directory
From the file menu \ import \ import cal history (and select friend.ini)
From the config menu tick "call history lookup"
Whenever {NAME} is encountered in a macro, the name is looked at for the callsign in the entry field... if not found {NAME} is just ignored.

mixW (from 2.12)

Place the friend.ini in mixW directory
Using the macro editor look at the OM macro and replace "my friend" by
<INIFILE:friend.ini, HI, ?C>, or just create the OM macro if it does not exist...
If the name field is empty (ie contest mode) the value in friend.ini is looked at whenever <NAME> is encountered.
Alternatively you can use directly <INIFILE:friend.ini, HI, ?C> in contest macros.
